News of the death of Charles E. Ensminger, age 72 at Oklahoma City has just been received by his cousin, Mrs. Minnie Austin Grimes. Mr. Ensminger's death followed an illness of short duration. He will be remembered by many residents although he has spent the past 40 years in the southwest. He was one of the pioneer civil engeers in Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma. He was the son of Horace P. and Nancy Austin Ensminger, pioneer residents of Crawfordsville. His father was for many years police chief. The old home on East Main Street is still known as the Ensminger house. That this man should seek his career on the frontier is only the natural trend for he has as ancestors' pioneers of stability and earnestness of purposes. His grandfather, John B. Austin coming from VA in an early day was the first minister of the Missionary Baptist Church of this city and his grandfather Ensminger from PA was a brick contractor whose work is still standing in some of the buildings of this city. He too was one of the charter members of old Center Church. Mr. Ensminger is the last jmember in his immediate family. Dr. John, Hal S. and Mrs. Clara Shipp having preceded him several years ago. Surviving are his wife, Harriet, one daughter, Mrs. Madaline Browne of Ponca City and a number of relatives in this vicinity.
